At the DMA Annual: Study Shows Web Accounts for 13% of Catalogers’ Sales

New York–If you’re one of the few catalogers that still don’t sell online, consider this: 13% of all catalog sales last year were generated via the Internet, according to the Direct Marketing Association’s State of the Catalog/Interactive Industry Report 2001, conducted with consultancy W.A. Dean & Associates. That’s up from 9% of catalog sales in 1999.

Among the nearly 100 catalogers surveyed, 45% described themselves “cataloger/retailer/Internet marketers” and 50% as “cataloger/Internet marketers.” Respondents estimated that 68% of their sales were driven by their print catalogs. Eight percent of sales were generated by retail and outlet stores.
