Racketeering Charges Shut Wall Street Creations

Rome, GA-based finance-themed gifts cataloger Wall Street Creations has reportedly been shut down by the Floyd County (GA) district attorney and a local Superior Court judge. The catalog and D.L. Pimper Group investment firm — both owned by David and Amy Pimper — were initially closed on Jan. 29 when, according to the Rome News-Tribune, District Attorney Tami Colston filed a civil racketeering suit against the Pimpers. Colston accused the Pimpers of misrepresentation and theft of client property using an “asset allocation” service — billing clients for services he did not provide.

Two weeks later, on Feb. 15, a Superior Court judge ordered that the catalog be reopened to issue customers due refunds and to figure out which orders needed to be filled. But on Feb. 21, according to the News-Tribune, a Superior Court judge told creditors to foreclose on the Pimpers’ home and stop all product shipments from the catalog. Several days later, Wall Street Creations filed for bankruptcy protection.

On Feb. 27, eight of the nine counts brought against D.L. Pimper Group were dropped, according to John Goselin, attorney for Atlanta-based law firm Olston & Bird, which is representing the Pimpers. The Pimpers, along with Rome-based law firm Brinson, Askew, and Berry, have filed an appeal to the State Surpreme Court of Georgia in which they charge that the lower court did not follow proper procedure in the civil suit filing.

Calls to the Pimpers had not been returned by press time. The Wall Street Creations corporate number was disconnected, and the toll-free ordering line was no longer listed.
