Insight, Black Box Make Overseas Acquisitions

Stamford, CT—Two business-to-business catalogers are proving that it is a small world after all. Continuing its strategy of acquiring small computer-network installation firms on both sides of the Atlantic, Lawrence, PA-based Black Box Corp. acquired $3 million Di.el. Distribuzioni Elettroniche S.r.l., which is based in Rome. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Black Box, which sells computer networking equipment and services, now has technical and support companies in Italy, Belgium, France, Japan, Mexico, The Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

And on Oct. 8, Tempe, AZ-based computer reseller Insight Enterprises, which includes Insight Direct Worldwide and Direct Alliance Corp., completed the acquisition of $400 million U.K. direct marketer Action. Action sells more than 25,000 brand-name computer products similar in range to those offered by Insight.
