Venus Settles Suit Against Pacific Sunwear

Jacksonville, FL–Swimsuit cataloger Venus Swimwear has settled a federal lawsuit it had filed on June 13, charging trademark infringement against $614.6 million Anaheim, CA-based retailer Pacific Sunwear and Pacific Sunwear of California.

Venus Swimwear alleged Pacific Sunwear’s Venus Girl Trap brand caused confusion with its Venus and Venus Swimwear trademarks. Pacific Sunwear registered the trademark Venus Girl Trap in 1997. Under terms of the agreement, Pacific Sunwear will continue to sell its existing inventory of merchandise under the Venus Girl Trap trademark until the inventory is exhausted. Pacific Sunwear will then no longer carry the Venus Girl trap line in its stores. As part of the settlement, Pacific Swimwear’s federal registration and interest in the Venus Girl Trap trademark will belong to Venus Swimwear.
