Amazon.com Invests in CatalogCity Parent Company

Seattle–On Nov. 9, online bookseller Amazon.com made a $5 million investment in Altura International, the parent firm of the CatalogCity.com catalog Website. In the transaction, Amazon issued 717,316 common shares with $6.97 each to buy its stake in Altura, but the e-commerce giant hasn’t said how much of Altura it will own.

Morningstar analyst David Kathman told E-Commerce Times that Amazon’s investment is indicative of the company’s ongoing effort to be a platform “for other people to sell stuff,” rather than maintaining its own warehouse and delivery operations.
