Kohl’s Expects to Hire 50,000 Holiday Employees

kohls logoIn anticipation of the upcoming holiday shopping season, Kohl’s announced that it will hire 50,000 seasonal employees nationally in various in-store, backend, and customer service positions.

According to a press release, Kohl’s is predicting adding 40 associates at each of the 1,158 United States retail stores, 6,400 season employees at various distribution centers throughout the country, and 350 “seasonal credit operations” positions which will focus assisting customers with orders.

The season employees, according to the release, will work anywhere from a handful to 20 hours a week and the work load will include “unloading trucks, freight processing, stocking and cash register duties.”

Although very few insights and predictions about the upcoming holiday shopping season have been made, ShopperTrak said recently that in-store sales could increase by nearly 3% this holiday season.

Kohls, according to the release, will begin hiring this month with a majority of the positions being filled before the swing of the holiday shopping season in mid-November.

Hiring began this month, and most jobs will be filled by mid-November. Holiday positions are also being filled at the company’s distribution centers, where hiring began in August. Associates who are working at distribution centers will help ensure that Kohl’s products get to the retail stores and into the hands of Kohls.com customers. Associates working in Kohl’s credit operations perform a variety of jobs including assisting customers with Kohls.com orders.
