Five Below Names Former Walmart.com Chief as President

Teen and tween discounter Five Below announced today it has named Joel Anderson as president. Anderson was previously president and CEO of Walmart.com, according to a press release from Five Below.

“With Joel, we have a proven multichannel retail leader with an execeptionally strong background across both stores and ecommerce, and the right leadership skills and merchandising vision to help fuel the growth of the Five Below brand,” said Tom Vellios, co-founder and CEO of Five Below.

In his new role, Anderson will lead all aspects of merchandising, stores and marketing.  Anderson will join Five Below in July.

At Walmart he oversaw all aspects of the business, including merchandising, marketing, operations and overall site experience.  He also successfully accelerated the strategy from a pure play dotcom to a multichannel retailer.

Prior to Walmart, Anderson was responsible for all aspects of the retail and direct business units at Lenox Group. He previously spent 12 years at Toys “R” Us, Inc., in various roles including marketing, dotcom, new ventures and operations.
