Brady Buys ID Warehouse of Australia

Brady Corp., a Milwaukee-based manufacturer/marketer of industrial signage, security, and safety products, has acquired New South Wales, Australia-based identification and security products supplier ID Warehouse. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 1994, ID Warehouse specializes in security identification and “visitor management” products, including identification card printers, access control cards, wristbands, tamper-evident security seals and identification accessories. The company sells online and through a field-sales force, and has annual sales of about $8 million.

Brady Corp., founded in 1914, has more than 1 million customers in electronics, telecommunications, manufacturing, electrical, construction, education, medical and a variety of other industries. The company employs about 6,600 people in operations in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Brady’s fiscal 2010 sales were about $1.26 billion.

The ID Warehouse acquisition allows Brady to expand its reach in Australia, where it already employs 200 people. Brady opened a sales office in Australia in 1970, and added production operations there in 1979.

Brady acquired Visi Sign near Melbourne in 1999, Safety Signs Service in Western Australia in 2001, and Accidental Health & Safety, Trafalgar First Aid, and Carroll Wiring Accessory Specialists in New South Wales in 2006. Brady currently operates from a 60,000-sq.-ft. facility in Regents Park near Sydney.
