Doesn’t Anyone Care About Fires Anymore?

Having a fire alarm go off early in the morning isn’t new for me and after a relatively long day on Tuesday at eTail East 2014 in Philadelphia, waking up the next morning before my 6:30 alarm was not exactly what I had planned.

I was jolted awake by the hotel fire alarm going off, and like the first time this happened (in my own apartment building) I scrambled to get everything I needed before I evacuated.

So naturally like anyone else about to evacuate from a building, you grab your laptop and purse? Right? Well don’t mock me, that’s what I grabbed!

So you can imagine the scenario, I jumped out of bed as this alarm is going off saying, “An emergency has been reported, please do not use any of the fire exits or elevator until the emergency has been verified and further information has been provided.”

I walk outside my hotel room and see no one outside even wondering what was going on or caring for that matter.

Is anyone else afraid of fires anymore? I was on the 16th floor!

Needless to say, everything was fine, but I had coffee with me all day. Oddly enough, when this happened in my apartment building, it happened just after eTail West 2014.
