General merchant J.C. Penney Co. has hired Ruby Anik as senior vice president and director of brand marketing. Anik joins J.C. Penney from Best Buy, where she was most recently senior vice president, marketing communications and business operations.

Daniel Griesemer, president/chief operating officer of Coldwater Creek, became the company's CEO on Oct. 30. Griesemer, who retains the role of president and will serve on the company's board, succeeds Coldwater cofounder/chairman/CEO Dennis Pence, who retired as CEO but remains chairman. Griesemer joined Coldwater Creek in October 2001 and was promoted to president/chief operating officer in March 2007.

Karen Katz was promoted from president/CEO of Neiman Marcus Stores to an executive officer of The Neiman Marcus Group. In addition to her current title, she will become an executive vice president of the Dallas-based luxury merchant. Jim Hauptman has been named director of design at Freeport, ME-based outdoor retailer L.L. Bean. Hauptman, who joined the merchant in 2001, was most recently the company's creative director and managing editor.

Tom Tweedie has been named vice president of marketing for Baudville, a Kentwood, MI-based business-to-business cataloger of employee recognition products and awards. Tweedie had been senior director, direct marketing, for Day-Timers.

Acorn Media Group has named Bruce Belliveau chief financial officer and Mark Stevens as its president of Acorn Media U.S. Stevens replaces John Lorenz who was promoted to vice chairman of the Silver Spring, MD-based global media company.
