Henry Schein Heads Down Under

Continuing the global expansion of its dentistry business, Melville NY-based Henry Schein acquired Halas Dental and Shalfoon Bros., full-service providers of dental merchandise and equipment in Australia and New Zealand. Schein purchased these businesses from Australian Pharmaceutical Industries. Terms of the deal were not released.

Halas and Shalfoon are expected to contribute combined revenue of approximately $80 million (Australian) in the first 12 months of operations after the acquisition. Henry Schein expects this acquisition to be slightly accretive in 2005.

The acquisition of Halas and Shalfoon adds more than 50 sales reps to Schein's existing based of nearly 60 in Australia and New Zealand.
