Collegiate Pacific Buys Another Distributor

Collegiate Pacific, a Dallas-based manufacturer/marketer of sports equipment to institutional markets, signed a letter of intent to acquire Richmond, VA-based distributor Dixie Sporting Goods. The deal is expect to close within 60 days. Just two months ago, Collegiate had acquired another distributor, Kesslers Team Sports.

Dixie's core competency is in football supplies and team uniforms, whereas Collegiate Pacific is best known for selling baseball equipment. Collegiate Pacific expects the acquisition to add $15 million to its revenue for fiscal 2005, which begins in July. Total company sales are expected to exceed $90 million.
