Collegiate Pacific to Buy Major Distributor

Dallas-based Collegiate Pacific signed a letter of intent to acquire $30 million team sporting goods distributor Kesslers Team Sports. Collegiate Pacific manufactures and markets sports equipment to team and institutional markets. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal is expected to close in early 2004 subject to due diligence.

Collegiate Pacific hopes to make other acquisitions in the months ahead. Targets will include wholesale team dealers with active sales forces, and manufacturers and distributors of institutional sports products.
