Flax Buys Internet Greeting Card Seller
As a means of expanding its greeting cards business, San Francisco-based art supplies and paper cataloger/retailer Flax Art & Design on April 15 bought Sparks.com, a Brisbane, CA-based online provider of cards and gifts. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"As a complementary component to our business, we see a significant opportunity for profitable growth," Flax president Philip Flax said in a statement. The Sparks.com Website offers nearly 10,000 greeting cards. The acquisition is the second in the past seven months for Flax, which bought the T. Shipley and Reliable HomeOffice catalogs in September.
