IT firm Compuware said it say a very large spike in Thanksgiving Day mobile commerce traffic. However, retail websites performed slightly slower this year.
Compuware said there was a 95% jump in iPad traffic compared to the day before. Last year there was only a 23% spike. There was also a 69% jump in iPhone traffic from the day previous.
But Thanksgiving Day page load times averaged more than 8 seconds, which is a decrease in performance from 2012, when the average was 6 seconds, and similar to 2011, when the average was 8 seconds. Compuware said this suggests the retailers weren’t as prepared for the additional traffic they are seeing this year.
