Pinterest introduced web analytics, a traffic measuring tool for website business owners this week. According to TechCrunch.com, the tool could help the social network generate revenue someday, but right now it is free of charge.

Pinterest has become a haven for brands because it gives them a platform for engaging with consumers and businesses that doesn’t bear the stigma of ads or other invasive marketing techniques.

Pinterest is considered the fastest growing web properties last year by comScore, according to an article on TechCrunch.com. It saw a 4,000% rise in traffic compared to Tumblr which saw 168% rise in traffic and Facebook up at 4%.

Pinterest which began offering official accounts for website owners in November is focusing this year on building foundations to monetize, according to an article on TechCrunch.

Website owners with Pinterest profile need to only input their Web address and ask for verification. From there, they’ll add the HTML file to their server or insert a META tag into their site header to prove they’re the owner. They then can use the tool.
