Redcats USA (formerly Brylane) on Sept. 22 opened a 740,000-sq.-ft., $19 million distribution center in Plainfield, IN, to fulfill orders from its home and gift catalogs and Websites. The facility employs 140, although it’s currently at 70% capacity. Of the 42 million packages Redcats USA expects to ship this year, 2.5 million will come out of the new facility.
The $1.5 billion Redcats USA mails 10 apparel and home goods titles, including Lane Bryant, Chadwick’s of Boston, and Brylane Home. The Plainfield warehouse is Redcats’ second in Indiana; the company operates a 750,000-sq.-ft. facility in Indianapolis, as well as two facilities totaling 1.5 million sq. ft. in Massachusetts. The company originally operated a smaller warehouse in Plainfield, but outgrew it and moved to a larger facility in the late ’90s. smaller, breakable items, compared to apparel and linens in the Indianapolis facility, the Plainfield center handles orders that require more hand-sorting.
