Scholastic Pulls Bid for eToys Inventory

New York–Children’s book publisher Scholastic Corp. has retracted its $8 million bid for for the inventory of defunct dot-com eToys, according to wire reports. The bid, which was part of an auction process in eToys’ bankruptcy proceedings, had been conditional on Scholastic also winning an auction for all of eToys’ shares. EToys filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this month.
