Steiner Leisure Buys Bliss

Steiner Leisure Ltd. has completed the acquisition of Bliss World Holdings from Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. The purchase price of the acquisition, initially announced in November, was $100 million and included all of the issued and outstanding capital stock.

Founded in 1996, Bliss has grown from a four-room spa in New York into a global skincare product and spa brand. Bliss retails its spa-at-home skin and body care products through its Bliss catalog, Blissworld.com, Bliss spa retail boutiques and at international high-end retailers. Starwood bought Bliss from LMHV Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton in early 2004.

Steiner is a global provider of spa services and operations; it also manufactures and distributes skin, body and hair care products via resorts, health clubs and on cruise ships, and on its Timetospa.com and Timetospa.co.uk Websites.

Leonard Fluxman, president/CEO of Steiner, said in a statement that the company will begin integrating Bliss products and services into its operations. The company aims to use its distribution channels to introduce more of the Bliss and Laboratoire Remede brands.

As part of the transaction, Bliss and Remede spas and amenities will remain exclusive to Starwood in the hotel category at W Hotels and St. Regis Hotels, respectively. Additionally, Starwood’s Aloft brand will continue to offer Bliss Tried+Blue amenities.
