American Eagle Outfitters Sees U.K. as Springboard to Western Europe

American Eagle Outfitters wants to be an omnichannel player in Western Europe, and hopes its successful launch in the U.K. will be its springboard to success.

Simon Nankervis, chief commercial officer at American Eagle Outfitters, told CNBC American Eagle sees the U.K. consumer as leading the fashion trend, and gives the company a definite read on the way they want customers to work with them there.

Though American Eagle opened its first brick and mortar locations in the U.K. last fall, its localized ecommerce site for the U.K. just launched in August. But Nankervis said American Eagle is already seeing progress with the localized site.

“We’re seeing definite shifts between the various brick and mortar and digital channels, so I think we’ll see more of that consumption continue to move online,” Nankervis told CNBC in the above video.
