Wayfair’s DwellStudio and Birch Lane to Deliver 3D Ecommerce Experience

Wayfair has announced it will provide high-resolution image renderings based on 3D product models for products available on DwellStudio and Birch Lane.

The company is partnering with LOFT Inc., the developer of the roOomy suite, which will now allow customers shopping on these sites to experiment with multiple textures and fabrics and see 360 degree views to find the perfect pieces of furniture for their home.

“We are thrilled to launch our new partnership with Wayfair,” said Pieter Aarts, CEO of roOomy.  “If a customer visits DwellStudio or Birch Lane websites and purchases a sofa, roOomy’s technology enables the customer to see that sofa in all available combinations of textures and fabrics.  At the same time, in the roOomy platform, home buyers and consumers can view the same products in their future room.”

RoOomy’s technology transforms 2D images into 3D models to provide a 3D customer experience for furniture retail, manufacturers and real estate.  It provides customers with the visualization tools to help make important home décor decisions but also drive conversions and cost-savings for retailers.

“After evaluating multiple vendors for our modeling needs, we chose LOFT for their high quality renderings, ability to capture details and dimensions as well as their flexibility as a partner,” said Brian Thornfeldt, general manager at DwellStudio. “We have seen increases in image engagement, swatch ordering and conversion rate for affected SKUs post launch, directly benefitting our customer experience.”

The technology will remove the friction by providing high resolution, images of furniture items to facilitate the decision-making process.  For the retailer it improves product page conversions and reduces returns and saves money on product photography.

RoOomy will utilize the 3D model assets from DwellStudio and Birch Lane in roOomy, its iPad app that provides a virtual staging solution for real estate, home furnishings retailers, and consumers.  Home buyers can “e-decorate” and real estate companies will be able to virtually stage their listings with products from DwellStudio and Birch Lane.  This creates a compelling new sales channel and shopping experience for Wayfair to connect with home buyers.
