Trademark Collection Shuts Down

CATALOG AGE has learned that Soddy Daisy, TN-based gifts and collectibles cataloger Trademark Collection shut down operations on June 1.

The catalog, founded in 1997 by Mark Maddox, sold licensed merchandise from Coca-Cola, Disney, and Harley-Davidson, among other brands. Maddox had earlier realized America’s thirst for licensed goods when he created and operated The Coca-Cola Catalog, as well as, under license from Hormel, The Spam Catalog.

“It is really difficult selling just Spam or just Coke or just John Deere [products], but put all together in a single book, you have the Trademark Collection,” says Geoff Batrouney, executive vice president at New Rochelle, NY-based list firm Estee Marketing, the list manager for the Trademark Collection. “Many more lists can be rented when you have John Deere, Marilyn Monroe, and Elvis together, plus Texaco and Pepsi.” Estee Marketing is selling Trademark Collection’s house file, which has more than 23,000 buyers from 2003 and 2004.
