Amazon.com, Expedia Team Up

New York–Online behemoth Amazon.com has teamed up with travel Website Expedia to open a travel store on Amazon’s Website. The store features flight, hotel, car rental, and cruise information provided by Expedia. The move comes just weeks after Amazon signed a similar e-commerce deal with retailer Target. Amazon says its agreement with Expedia will expand later this year to the online cataloger’s U.K. operations. And, in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks on New York and Washington, Amazon’s store will use Expedia’s services to provide travelers with information such as airport and airline updates, information on check-in procedures, and flight status.
