Amazon.com hosts Office Depot site

On Sept. 6, Amazon.com launched its latest alliance, hosting a store on its Website for office products superstore retailer Office Depot. The Seattle-based Amazon already hosts Web stores for Target, J&R Music World, and Toys ‘r’ Us, among others. The Office Depot site offers more than 50,000 products, including technology items and home office furniture, chosen to complement Amazon’s existing office products offerings.

Amazon will process the transactions, while Office Depot will manage inventory, product fulfillment, customer service, and credit-card transactions through its 24 regional distribution centers.

The Amazon alliance “provides us the ability to effectively reach a vitally important and large customer segment of online personal-use shoppers,” Office Depot chairman/CEO Bruce Nelson said in a statement.
