Amazon Extends Holiday Shipping Deadlines

Amazon announced it is extending holiday shipping deadlines, allowing customers to order as late as Dec. 19, get free shipping and have orders arrive before Christmas day. The cutoff in 2013 was Dec. 17.

Prime members will be able to order by Dec. 22 and get free shipping. For true procrastinators in 12 major metro areas, they can choose from as many as a million items eligible for same-day shipping, order by 10 a.m. local time on Dec. 24 and have it delivered in time for Christmas.

Prime members pay $5.99 per shipment for this service, which is available in Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Dallas, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington D.C.

Amazon also offers shipping seven days a week in these markets, through its partnership with the U.S. Postal Service.

Even though Amazon is pushing their delivery deadlines this year, last year it acknowledged its delivery delays just after the holidays.
