Bare Necessities Launches Wacoal Spin-off

A year after launched its first-ever print catalog, intimate apparel merchant Bare Necessities has dropped a spin-off title of Wacoal bras and lingerie. The new catalog’s scheduled in-home date was May 19.

The theme of the first edition is Wacoal’s “Bras of Summer.” This line includes bras that work with summer tops, such as strapless dresses, halter tops, racerback tanks and classic T-shirts.

Why a separate Wacoal title? The merchant has in the past decade seen Wacoal grow into one of the top lingerie brands in the country, said Maureen Stabnau, senior vice president of merchandising for BareNecessities.com in a statement. So the company “wanted to do a catalog that could highlight the range of great fitting bras from Wacoal.”

Avenel, NJ-based Bare Necessities has been selling online since 1998. Its product line includes brand name and designer bras, lingerie, shapewear, hosiery and men’s underwear. Brands offered include Calvin Klein, DKNY, Ralph Lauren, Warner and Vanity Fair.

Bare Necessities’ first multibrand catalog mailed in May 2008 primarily to its house file, which the company said at the time was about 1 million names.
