CELEBRITIES SELL OUT

Not content with being an acclaimed comedienne, Tracey Ullman has become an entrepreneur as the chairwoman/cofounder of Purpleskirt.com. This online boutique sells eclectic apparel and accessories, such as a Fringe Shoulder Bag ($110) and the Fabulous Pant ($237).

But Ullman is hardly the only celeb to set up cybershop. Cher, who’d put out the gothic-schlock Sanctuary catalog in the ’90s, maintains a Sanctuary boutique on her official site (www.cher.com), selling gift items such as a Cher Teddy Bear ($14.99) and Gothic Heart Pendant ($99.99).

And let’s not forget MVP.com, the online sporting-goods emporium cofounded by retired sports legends John Elway, Wayne Gretzky, and Michael Jordan. So who’s next? We can think of one “chief executive” who will need a job next year – the Clinton Cyber Cigar Shop, perhaps?
