Figi’s Business Unit to Target Retailers

Figi’s Business Services, a subsidiary of food gifts cataloger Figi’s, is partnering with the Greenwood Group to sell goods to the retail market. Greenwood, which specializes in marketing strategies for the consumer packaged goods industry, will promote Figi’s multicomponent food gifts to stores.

Figi’s new retail line was developed from the merchant’s best-selling food products from its Gifts in Good Taste consumer catalog. Retail items include old-fashioned candy tins, meat and cheese assortments, Figi’s chocolate shoppe and a variety of snack packs.

Founded in 1944 by federal cheese inspector John Figi, Marshfield, WI-based Figi’s launched Figi’s Business Services in 2003 as a business-to-business catalog and Website targeting corporate gift givers.

“In the 65 years since John Figi delivered his first mail order cheese products to the post office in a little red wagon, food gifts have grown into a multi-billion dollar piece of the consumer gift market industry,” said Figi’s president Jim Krueger in a statement. “Not only are we excited to bring the Figi’s brand to our customers via new retail outlets, we’re also equally excited to have Greenwood Group bring the Figi’s tradition of quality food gifts to new audiences as well.”

Figi’s has been owned by plus-size fashion retailer Charming Shoppes since 2003. It was acquired as part of the Crosstown Traders stable of apparel catalogs; the rest of the Crosstown books were sold to multititle mailer Orchard Brands in 2008.
