CDW Boasts Record 1Q Revenue

First-quarter sales at CDW Computer Centers (Nasdaq: CDWC) surpassed $1.00 billion, making this the company’s biggest first quarter in its history. Sales for the first quarter of 2001 were $987.2 million. Net income rose slightly, to $40.8 million from $40.5 million a year ago. Vernon Hills, IL-based CDW said it continues to be cautious regarding the economic slowdown and projects net sales for the second quarter of $1.01 billion-$1.06 billion.

PC Connection Posts a 1Q Loss Merrimack, NH-based PC Connection (Nasdaq: PCCC) suffered a 22% decline in first-quarter net sales, to $236.2 million from $301.8 million last year. Worse, for the three months ended March 31, the company posted a $2.1 million net loss; for the first quarter of 2001, it reported net income of $2.4 million.

West Marine 1Q Sales Up 8% Watsonville, CA-based boating supplies cataloger/retailer West Marine (Nasdaq: WMAR) saw first-quarter net sales rise 8%, to $97.2 million for the three months ended March 30. The net loss for the quarter was $2.4 million, an improvement on last year’s first-quarter net loss of $3.2 million.
