Zones Widens Net Loss

Renton, WA–PC reseller Zones (Nasdaq: ZONS), Zones reported a net loss of $257,000 for the period ended Sept. 30, wider than the $137,000 net loss it posted last year. Total net revenue declined 29% $120.7 million in the third quarter of 2001, compared to $169.7 million last year, which Zones attributes to soft IT spending further fueled by the events of Sept. 11.

HBIO Reports 40% Third-Quarter Revenue Growth Holliston, MA—Manufacturer/marketer of drug discovery tools Harvard Bioscience (Nasdaq: HBIO) reported revenues for the quarter ended Sept. 30 increased 40%, to $10.6 million, from $7.6 million last year. Net income for the quarter totaled $319,000, compared to a loss of $17.2 million, for the same quarter last year, including a charge of $658,000 for stock compensation expense and $565,000 for amortization of goodwill and other intangibles.
