On Sept. 28, holding company Liquid Holdings purchased $34.7 million wine marketer Geerlings & Wade for $40 million. The privately held Liquid Holdings, formed for this transaction, is headed by Ronald S. Haft, the founder of retailer The Dart Group. The deal is expected to closed in early 2000.
It is unclear what, if any, changes are in store for the Canton, MA-based Geerlings & Wade. When asked if Liquid Holdings would change the catalog’s name, Liquid Holdings spokesman Jeff Loucks would only say, “The decision will be based n what is best for the combined company.”
