Cataloger/retailer Golfsmith Golf & Tennis has launched its first-ever tennis catalog, Center Court, and plans to have it hit homes this week, just prior to the start of the U.S. Open. The launch of Center Court corresponds to the relaunch of the Golfsmith’s tennis microsite (tennis.golfsmith.com) and the continued expansion of the company’s golf and tennis stores across the country.
The Austin, TX-based merchant did not disclose circulation numbers for the 68-page standard-size catalog, which features Maria Sharapova on the cover. According to vice president of marketing Matt Corey, Golfsmith will measure results of the first catalog before deciding on a plan of frequency.
Since fall 2004, Golfsmith has increased the number of golf and tennis stores it operates from six to 41. The company plans to continue rolling out tennis stores as part of its aggressive retail growth plan.
