Holliston, MA–Harvard Bioscience has acquired Scie-Plas, a U.K. company that designs, manufactures, and markets equipment for gel electrophoresis, a technique for sample preparation in molecular biology. Scie-Plas is no stranger to Harvard Bioscience; the latter distributes Scie-Plas’s product line in the U.S. through its Harvard Apparatus catalog. The acquisition could add $3 million-$4 million in revenue and would be accretive to earnings in 2002.
