A new year, a new acquisition for Melville NY-based Henry Schein, a manufacturer/marketer of medical, dental and veterinary supplies and equipment. On Jan. 11, the $3.4 billion serial acquirer bought $100 million Concord, Ontario-based dental distributor Ash Temple Ltd. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The acquisition, which is expected to be immediately accretive to the earnings of Henry Schein, bolsters Schein’s Canadian presence. Ash Temple’s operations will be combined with Henry Schein’s Canadian dental business, Henry Schein Arcona. As a result of the deal, the company, which will operate under the new name Henry Schein Ash Arcona, will double its 100-person dental sales force.
