Beginning with its May 2003 catalog, Rochester, NY-based home goods cataloger Home Trends will carry a spread of cookbooks, cooking videos, and kitchen items from actor/comedian Dom DeLuise. Best known for his roles as Burt Reynolds’s sidekick in such movies as “Smokey and the Bandit” and “Cannonball Run,” DeLuise is also an accomplished chef and author.
“This is an exclusive arrangement with Dom DeLuise,” says Home Trends copywriter Kyra Mancine, who adds that DeLuise’s spread will appear in subsequent Home Trends catalogs throughout this year. She would not disclose the financial arrangement with DeLuise but notes that he will be pictured both on the cover of the catalog as well as on the president’s letter page along with president Jane Glazer.
The spread, to be titled “Dom DeLuise’s Well-Stocked Kitchen Favorites,” will include both DeLuise exclusives and existing Home Trends products, including Dom’s Dolly, a DeLuise-designed butcher-block-top dolly, a chef’s apron, and oven mitts. DeLuise’s cookbooks, “Eat This” and “Eat This Too,” will be available along with a four-tape video series based on the books.
