IGo Cuts 27% of Staff

Reno, NV—IGo Corp. is laying off 27% of its workforce, part of what the cataloger of accessories for wireless devices is dubbing a restructuring. In a statement, the company said it is combining or eliminating certain functions and departments. As part of the restructuring, iGo has hired business development consultancy Insider Marketing to help it refine its sales and merchandising strategies.

Calls to iGo were not returned by press time. But according to the Reno Gazette-Journal, 43 workers are being let go, bringing iGo’s headcount down to 119. This is iGo’s second round of layoffs since December, when it employed nearly 250 workers. According to the newspaper, the job cuts were primarily in sales, marketing, and Web development.

IGo also announced the resignation of senior vice president of sales Lonnie Ramos. Mark Rapparport, president of Xtend Microproducts, which iGo bought last August, was named iGo’s vice president of sales. Ejaz Afzal, Xtend’s vice president of engineering, was named vice president of product development for iGo.
