J.L. Hammett Lays Off 60

Lyons, NY—The catalog division of educational supplies marketer J.L. Hammett, which was acquired by Appleton, WI-based School Specialty last November, will close its call center here on Oct. 26. Sixty-one workers will be laid off, and the calls will be routed to School Specialty’s larger centers in Wisconsin and Ohio. The facility includes a distribution center, which will remain open.
