Lowe’s Debuts Catalog

Home improvement retailer Lowe’s has mailed its first-ever catalog. The Mooresville, NC-based company is using the book to help introduce its Home Accents line of furnishings and accessories. The catalog also acts as a gift guide, with holiday buying tips spread throughout its pages, The last page of the catalog details “red-hot” gifts that can be found in Lowe’s stores or ordered online or by phone.

Lowe’s spokesperson Jennifer Wilson says the 48-page catalog mailed to an undisclosed number of recent customers. Lowe’s will consider producing another holiday catalog next year if this year’s effort is deemed a success, she says.

The Home Accent line includes six ranges: country living, traditional, contemporary, eclectic, casual, and cozy. Offerings include a $1,000 crystal chandelier, $198 accent rugs, and $58 footstools.

“We carried some furniture [in stores] after the holidays last year, but the products in the Home Accent line are new this year,” Wilson says. “It’s not something we carry year round, but we’re entertaining that possibility.”

Last year Lowe’s rival Home Depot launched two catalog titles – 10 Crescent Lane and Paces Trading Co. – which were dedicated to home furnishings and lighting. Both titles were rolled into Home Depot’s main catalog last month.
