Carlsbad, CA—CATALOG AGE has learned that in women’s apparel mailer Monterey Bay Catalog Co. sold its California Style title in July to SBL, a Chinese importing company. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Monterey Bay president Ann Hjemboe says that the company will continue to provide fulfillment and mailing services for California Style as well as continue to mail its Monterey Bay book.
And just last week, Monterey Bay’s parent company, Graham Webb International, a $78 million haircare products marketer, was purchased by Wella AG, a German hair care and cosmetics group. There’s no word yet as to whether the acquisition will affect Monterey Bay.
