On March 30, shareholders of New Britain, CT-based Moore Medical Corp. approved the acquisition of the catalog by McKesson Corp. The deal is expected to close April 1.
“The depth and breadth of McKesson’s product line will allow us to provide our customers a complete service offering on a scale that we have lacked until now. We didn’t have the scale before to compete with” larger businesses, Moore president/CEO Linda Autore told CATALOG AGE in January. “Now we can take full advantage of McKesson’s 300,000 SKUs.” Moore currently offers about 15,000 SKUs. The first order of business, Autore added, is determining the “going to market” strategy of the combined businesses.
The move ends nearly two months of bids from other suitors including Bristol, TN-based SJ Strategic Investments and Newton, MA-based Clinical Data.
