Gear and outerwear merchant Moosejaw Mountaineering has launched its first catalog to focus completely on backpacking and climbing gear.
The 24-page digest-size book will mail this month to 94,000 customers and prospects, says Moosejaw creative director Gary Wohlfeill. The title will also have a home online as a digital catalog on the Moosejaw Website.
The company will also distribute the backpacking and climbing book as a bounceback.“The catalog will be stuffed in all outgoing Moosejaw.com packages for the next couple months,” Wohlfeill says.
Moosejaw will also make the newcatalog available to all store customers by giving them away on the counters. The merchant operates seven retail stores.
But it has no plan to reprise the backpacking and camping title after this run. Wohlfeill says Moosejaw will launch five different catalogs – including two fall and two winter – before the end of 2009, however.
