Maternity apparel retailer Mothers Work has promoted Ed Krell from chief operating officer to CEO. Krell replaces cofounder Dan Matthias, who is retiring as CEO but will remain as nonexecutive chairman of the board and advise the company through September 2012.

Justin Seamonds was recently named chief financial officer at Dean & DeLuca. Seamonds had been vice president/controller and a member of the executive management committee at Haverty Furniture Cos.

Healthcare products and services provider Henry Schein has appointed Axel Pfitzenreiter managing director of supply chain for the company’s Central European operations. Pfitzenreiter, who has nearly 20 years of experience in purchasing, logistics and information technologies, previously worked for Lufthansa Cargo and DHL ExpressEurope.

Eddie Bauer Holdings has hired Scott Hutsenpiller as vice president, outerwear design. Hutsenpiller was most recently responsible for the design of two alpine ski collections for Spyder Active Sports. Before that he was director of design and product innovation for Eastern Mountain Sports.

Urban Outfitters has appointed James Bidwell to the newly created position of managing director, Anthropologie Europe. Bidwell had been chief executive of Visit London (formerly the London Tourist Board); before that he was marketing director at Selfridges.

Golfsmith International Holdings has named Sue Gove executive vice president/chief operating officer. Gove has been an independent consultant to clients in specialty retail and private equity since 2006. Prior to that she was chief operating officer of Zale Corp.

Hudson¹s Bay Trading Co. has named Brendan L. Hoffman president/CEO of its upscale retail unit Lord & Taylor. Hoffmann was previously president/CEO of Neiman Marcus Direct, the catalog/Internet arm of The Neiman Marcus Group.
