NBTY buys Knox supplements business

Nutritional supplements manufacturer/marketer NBTY agreed to buy the Knox NutraJoint and Knox for Nails supplements business from Kraft Foods for roughly $4 million. NBTY will use the $15 million business to expand its product offerings. The deal is expected to be finalized by the end of the month. NBTY will license the Knox trademark back to Kraft for use in the latter’s Knox gelatine business. Earlier this month NBTY, which produces the Puritan’s Pride catalog, bought certain assets of now-defunct Healthcentral.com, including the customer list of cataloger L&H Vitamins.
