Net Income Soars for Schein

Medical, dental, and veterinary supplier Henry Schein recorded impressive results for the fourth quarter—and for the year. For the quarter ended Dec. 29, the Melville, NY-based merchant’s sales rose 16.4%, to $1.71 billion, compared to $1.47 billion for the same period a year ago. Fourth-quarter net income increased 24.2%, to $78.3 million, up from $63.0 million.

The company’s numbers for the year were even better: Henry Schein’s sales for the year ended Dec. 29 increased 17.3%, to $5.92 billion, compared to $5.04 billion for the year-ago period. Its net income shot up 31%, to $215.1 million, up from $163.7 million last year.
