Need to get your bearings? The Timken Co. has launched a 185-page catalog focused on spherical roller bearings and accessories. The bearings manufacturer mailed 15,000 copies of the book starting Sept. 4, according to spokesperson Sarah Tornes.
Timken’s new title targets original equipment manufacturers, distributors, end-users, and students in the bearing selection process. It sells the company’s complete line of spherical designs ranging from 25 mm to 1,500 mm bore (0.98 to 59.06 inches) as well as spherical pillow blocks and metric spherical accessories, such as adapters and withdrawal sleeves.
Not sure what spherical bearings do? They’re designed to manage high radial loads and perform consistently, even when misalignment, marginal lubrication, contamination, extreme speeds, and critical application stresses are present.
For Canton, OH-based Timken, Tornes says catalogs help customers find the right bearing for their application. “In many cases, they’ll turn to the catalog to answer engineering/product questions as the first step before consulting a distributor or Timken sales representative,” she says.
In fact, Timken currently has more than 30 catalogs in circulation, Tornes says. “The majority of these pieces are focused on a particular product or industry,” she explains. The $5 billion company has one comprehensive catalog called the Timken Products Catalog; it sells engineering and dimensional data for more than 250 product types.
