Joe Phelan is New CEO of DHL Global Mail
Deutsche Post has promoted Joe Phelan to CEO of DHL Global Mail.

Phelan previously served as president/CEO of the company’s Americas business division. He was also a member of the company’s Global Management Board.

Phelan joined DHL in 2004 as CEO/senior vice president, marketing and commercial affairs. While in that position he led the integration of Deutsche Post Global Mail, SmartMail and QuikPak, which resulted in the launch of DHL Global Mail. He became president/CEO of the company’s Americas business division in 2006.

Prior to joining DHL, Phelan worked for American Airlines, where he oversaw the company’s global freight, mail operations and logistics. He also was responsible for service delivery, security, customer service and operations in Europe for the airline’s passenger and cargo divisions.

Phelan also serves on the International Postal and Delivery Services Advisory Committee, formed earlier this year by the U.S. Department of State, which deals with foreign policy issues regarding international postal services and private international shipping services.

Nick LaHowchic, Formerly with Limited Brands, Joins Tompkins Associates
Supply chain services firm Tompkins Associates recently announced that Nicholas J. LaHowchic, former executive vice president of Limited Brands and head of its logistics unit, has joined the company as executive associate.

In addition to Limited Brands, LaHowchic has held executive positions at Becton Dickinson & Company, Colgate-Palmolive, RJR Nabisco Brands, McGraw Hill and Thomas J. Lipton.

LaHowchic serves as a board member for three multibillion-dollar corporations. He is also president of Diannic Ltd., a consulting firm supporting the advancement of general management leadership and supply chain management practices.

TMSi Logistics Promotes Jim Nugent to Vice President of Operations
TMSi Logistics has promoted Jim Nugent to vice president of operations.

Nugent previously served as vice president of business quality. In that role he was responsible for managing the development and execution of the company’s Six Sigma and Lean Management programs.

In his new position Nugent will be responsible for managing the company’s regional managers and the logistical operations they oversee, including budget and actual costs, quality, customer relations, and the training of regional personnel.

George Henrich Joins TMSi Logistics as Director of Client Solutions
TMSi Logistics recently hired George Henrich as a director of client solutions.

In his new position Henrich will work directly with clients to improve overall business processes by developing performance-based models for supply chain management.

Henrich has more than 25 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management. Previously he helped implement national and international logistics and supply chain programs for many Fortune 1000 companies. Most recently he worked as a consultant, developing strategic programs for companies to optimize logistics functions and reduce expenses within the supply chain.

Kathie Lynch Promoted to Senior Vice President of Global Logistics at Talbots
The Talbots has promoted Kathie Lynch to senior vice president of global logistics. In her new role she will oversee distribution, transportation and import operations for both the Talbots and J. Jill brands.

Lynch joined J. Jill in 2002 as vice president of fulfillment operations at its Tilton facility. She has nearly 30 years of retail experience, including 16 years in distribution and fulfillment.

In her new role, Lynch will oversee the strategic direction and logistical planning for the company’s global distribution, transportation and import network. She will continue to report directly to Greg Poole, executive vice president and chief supply chain officer for The Talbots Inc.
