Silvo Files Chapter 11

CATALOG AGE has learned that the parent company of Rolling Meadows, IL-based Silvo Home & Garden catalog, Silvo Hardware A Co., filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois on Jan. 2.

Calls to Silvo Home’s headquarters were not returned at press time. But when CATALOG AGE’s Secret Shopper placed a call to Silvo Home’s call center (which also takes calls for Femail Creations and Acorn Direct) on Jan. 21, the service rep explained that Silvo was undergoing “a reorganization.” The company was still taking orders, according to the rep, but that delivery would be delayed a few weeks. Silvo won’t bill the credit cards, however, until the orders ship.

According to its data card from ALC of New York, Silvo Home has 53,406 12-month buyers. The average unit of sale is $83. The catalog sells kitchen and bath accessories, home maintenance supplies, and storage and organizational products.
