FRAMINGHAM, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Staples, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPLS) today announced that it has named Steve Matyas, President, North American Retail. He previously had been President of Staples Canada/Bureau en Gros since July, 2000, and will continue to serve as a member of the company’s executive committee.

Matyas joined Business Depot Ltd. in Canada as its first employee in March 1991. He has also served as Vice President, Operations, Human Resources and Store Planning, and Vice President, Sales and Operations.
