Star Struck Plays Ball with Three New Titles

Bethel, CT-based Star Struck this spring added three professional baseball team catalogs to its growing lineup.

In addition to its core 100-page sports collectibles catalog, Star Struck/ProTeam, and New York Mets team catalog of licensed products, the company mailed 20-page specialty catalogs to season-ticket holders of the Milwaukee Brewers, the Baltimore Orioles, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. The catalogs mailed during the second week of March to coincide with spring training.

So far, returns suggest a home run. “We were hoping for a big response, and we got it,” says chief operating officer Jason Scheets, particularly from fans of the Mets and the Orioles.

“We work directly with the teams’ marketing staff for direction, including which current athletes and past stars the organization wants to publicize,” Sheets explains. Season-ticket holders of the Baltimore Orioles, for instance, can get jerseys of past stars such as Jim Palmer, Brooks Robinson, and Cal Ripken and “bobble head” statuettes of current players Miguel Tejada, Javier Lopez, and Rafael Palmiero.
