Stupendous Second Quarter for Schein

Second-quarter sales at Melville, NY-based Henry Schein rose 18.6%, to $1.6 billion for the 13 weeks ended June 28. Net income nearly doubled, to $65.4 million, from $33.8 million for the second quarter in 2007.

The company’s dental group sales of $660 million increased 9.7%, while dental equipment sales and service revenue rose 11%. “These results illustrate Henry Schein’s ability to deliver consistent sales and earnings growth,” chairman/CEO Stanley M. Bergman said in a release.
